Biography
Professor
Mari Peepre
comes to UOIT from
Royal
Roads
University,
where she was the founding Director of the
School of
Communication
and Culture. Her present assignment at
UOIT is focused on developing both a BA and an MA in Communication.
Dr. Peepre
received her BA in English from Queen's University and her Licentiate and
Doctorate in English Literature from the
University of
Helsinki.
Her academic interests have ranged widely,
from teaching English as a second language to English literature (with a
specialization in Canadian and Postcolonial literatures). She presently finds herself entranced by the
interdisciplinary world of Communication Studies.
Dr. Peepre
began her
academic career in the 1960s at the University of Helsinki in Finland and
eventually moved to York University and from there to Royal Roads University,
where she had an opportunity to develop expertise in Communication.
